R is for Rock Climbing

I had planned to catch up on posts tonight but I am tired from spending the afternoon with friends at the Kangaroo Point Cliffs trying out rock climbing.  It was organised by our friends Rachael & Pete (experienced climbers) to give kids a go at climbing and we took 2 of Aaron’s  nephews along.  Of course the adults in the group had a go as well.  I had never tried climbing before (indoor or outdoor) but always keen to give anything a go I thought I would try it. I didn’t have high expectations, for one I’m scared of heights, and two I’m usually never very good at sport or outdoor activities.  But I surprised myself.  I didn’t get higher than 4 metres or so but to get to that height I found it quite easy, plus the height thing didn’t bother me.  I didn’t give up before any panic set in.  Wise I think for my first attempt. Anyway, here’s the proof.

So tired

I had intended to write a proper post tonight but I am so so so tired. Several late nights in a row spent on my assignment and an emotionally draining day at a training course (I will explain all later) has left me unable to do very much at all.

On the flipside I am looking forward to reading everyone’s posts for #blogjune. I can’t believe how many people are participating.

New Challenge

I started the year with so many good intentions but some have fallen by the way side, not that that’s a bad thing.

Anyway, I away last year on my honeymoon and missed the Twitter call for #blogeverydayofjune.  So now it’s come around again (my gosh the year has gone quickly) I thought I would  participate this year. I’m not of to a good start as it is already June 2 as I write this but I did have a higher priority, to finish a late assignment. I guess I really don’t have that much to say right now except I’m in the challenge and I am actually looking forward to it.  I’m sure I will have some cop-out posts and some down right boring ones too, but I think I am actually at a stage where I am comfortable to start blogging about issues of a professional nature.  In the past I have not really been comfortable expressing my professional opinions but I think I’m now ready.  I would like to think my PLN has played a part in this.  Thanks everyone for your friendship, support and encouragement.  I don’t know how I would have coped over the past year without you (more on that in another post perhaps).  So thanks PLN and I look forward to reading everybody elses #blogjune posts.

On that note it’s off to bed before I fall asleep at my laptop, maybe after I catch up on tweets.

On the 12th Day of Christmas

On the 12th Day of Christmas I didn’t finish this blog challenge as we went to Aaron’s parents for dinner.  So here it is a day a late.

I have enjoyed doing this blog challenge #blog12daysxmas.  Thanks @fionawb for coming up with the idea.  It has been good reason to get back into blogging on a regular basis. This time of year has also helped me with reflection, something I want to do more of.  I am still not confident enough to blog about professional topics just yet, but I do want to keep blogging so I have agreed to do yet another Twitter discussed challenge initiated at The Daily Post, weekly blogging.  I know just from the last 12 days I can’t manage to blog daily but I think weekly might just be doable.  I have at least got fodder in the other challenges I have set myself, the Weekly Cooking Challenge and going to the movies more often.  Who knows by the end of 2011 I may be confident enough to blog about professional topics (I feel another challenge coming on).

Thanks again to @fionawb and all of the other tweeps participating in #blog12daysxmas.  As always you are an inspirational bunch of folk and I am glad to have you as a pln.  Hopefully I will meet more of you irl in 2011.
